International patent applications filed via the Patent Cooperation Treaty from Chongqing is forecast to increase by about 20 percent in 2017 from the previous year, local officials said at a recent annual IP meeting. The municipality in Southwest China plans to foster a group of intellectual property-intensive companies, develop a multi-dispute resolution system and encourage industrial funds to support innovative startups, according to the city's IP authorities.
